What is PruGOals?
Back in 2018, Our friends at Cycle Republic first partnered with Prudential through the PruGOals initiative. The aim of the project was to give 16-18 year-olds the chance to develop their cycling skills, as well as improve their physical and mental health and ultimately complete the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 46. On top of the overwhelming sense of accomplishment and pride, this also gave young people the opportunity to develop essential life skills as they close in on the end of academia and head towards employment. After the great success last year, PruGoals plans to deliver more of the same this year. Find out more about the great work happening on Cycle Republic here!
The ride that the students will undertake is the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 46 which comprises a spectacular 46-mile route on traffic-free roads, beginning at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in east London and following the same route as the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 for the first 27 miles before taking a new two-mile route, which then links up with the last 17 miles through London to the finish in The Mall. The Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 46 is still a challenge but it is much more of an introduction to cycling on traffic-free roads and it’s a wonderful way to ride your first sportive which makes it a perfect challenge for the young people taking part through PruGOals.
Where do we come in?
This year we have provided 300 custom made bikes using existing Raleigh Strada's to give to the students from the 21 participating schools across the country. We ensured each bike was built with comfort, ease and speed in mind and we know the students will love riding them. We know that cycling can benefit your body but it’s also very beneficial for your mental health and wellbeing which is why we are glad to support such a fantastic initiative which can get even more young people behind the handlebars.
We’d like to wish all of the participants the best of luck for the future as well as the ride in August!
