Raleigh and
the National
Trust

On a mission to become carbon net zero by 2030, we’ve teamed up with the National Trust to help them reach this goal. To reduce reliance on diesel-powered vehicles, we’ve donated several eBikes and eCargo bikes across 11 of their sites to change the way they carry out some of their daily activities.

Who Are the National Trust?

The National Trust is one of the UK’s most loved charities with a mission to care for nature, beauty, and history. That’s why we’re so excited about this collaboration. With properties and locations spanning the width and breadth of England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, the National Trust looks after history and nature for us and future generations.

What can we achieve together?

We have teamed up with the National Trust to help grab climate change by the handlebars and embrace the power of cycling. In 2020, the National Trust set out plans to reduce its environmental footprint and to be carbon neutral by 2030. It’s a fantastic target, and so to help them get there, we have donated a selection of eCargo bikes and eBikes to be used across 11 of the National Trust’s properties, including Tyntesfield in North Somerset, Blickling Estate in Norfolk, and Lyme Park in Cheshire.

The bikes support and enable staff and volunteers to move around the grounds easily, while reducing the National Trust’s carbon footprint. Not only that, but the use of eBikes and eCargo bikes can be a talking point with visitors, enabling staff to speak to the public about the Trust’s environmental ambitions. What’s not to love?

Want to learn more about the National Trust?

It’s almost as old as us! Founded in 1895 the National Trust cares for over 500 properties as well as hundreds of miles of coastline and countryside. From the homes of authors and inventors, to great estates and breath-taking protected landscapes, the National Trust makes sure our countryside and historic properties are not only here for us now but for generations to enjoy forever.

The National Trust is on a mission to become carbon net zero by 2030, and to help reach that target, we have donated several eBikes and eCargo bikes for them to help reduce their reliance on diesel-powered vehicles for short journeys. The electric bikes are a mixture of our award-winning Motus model and super-durable Haibike eMTBs. Some properties will be using our eCargo bikes which are built for versatility and convenience. The ability to easily transport goods and tools will help to keep National Trust properties working all year round.

The bikes will be used for short journeys that don’t need a vehicle to fulfil the job, such as unlocking gates and taking small loads from one area to another. In collaboration with the National Trust, we are pleased to help the charity achieve a more environmentally friendly future - something we are also striving for at Raleigh.

In addition to their environmental benefits, the electric bikes will help staff connect with nature, visitors, and their surroundings whilst getting a dose of exercise. Due to the powerful motors, these bikes will assist riders when they need it, making even the biggest hill, dare we say, enjoyable.

The power of eCargo and eBikes

For the National Trust, the use of eCargo and eBikes are more than just a means of getting from A to B. By using electric bikes as part of the normal working day, staff and volunteers can go about their work whilst connecting with nature and helping bring down their climate footprint. Plus, did we mention that riding a bike is just plain fun?

We’re proud that our eBikes are helping the National Trust move towards a greener future. Discover more about the National Trusts pledge.
