Reporting to the Import Controller

To assist with the processing of all shipping documentation for prompt customs clearance of all deliveries from outside of the UK. Liaising with Freight forwarders and Carriers and co-ordinating with Warehouse personnel regarding all arrivals into the Raleigh Warehouse.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Assist with – Langdon Duty Management Software for Customs Warehouse, which includes daily downloads to process removals from the bonded warehouse, checking booking is correct, as well as manually registering those that have failed and entering all invoices and receipts.
Maintaining the daily Master Import control document – a record of all shipments.
Assisting in ensuring suppliers and shipping lines supply correct documentation on time to allow Raleigh to meet its Duty and VAT obligations without penalty.
Ensuring all agents enter details correctly for customs clearance by auditing entries and deferment account.
Ensuring all documentation received is correct and valid GSP forms/REX numbers are present.
To collate all papers together to send to our Freight Forwarders for Customs clearance.
Assisting with the liaison with Freight Forwarders and Goods Inwards regarding “booking in” process to ensure all deliveries arrive on time and for containers arriving to meet their advised booking slot.
Keep records of all imports for presentation to HM Customs.
Assisting with the “booking in” process of both containers and LCL shipments to minimise potential deferment charges and maximise the Goods Inwards area efficiency.
Process all invoices for freight and haulage costs, ensuring the correct rates have been charged.
Liaising with Planners and Goods Inwards daily to advise them arrival of deliveries to site.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications
Excellent administration skills.
Ability to work accurately and timely with attention to detail.
Previous experience with import documentation is desirable but not essential.
Willingness to learn the use of the Langdon Duty Management System in conjunction with IT – training provided
An excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is essential.
Helpful and approachable with the ability to communicate effectively with other departments.
Able to use your own initiative.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills – a large percentage of Supplies based overseas – any ability to speak another language would be helpful but is not essential to the role.
